Early detection. It is recommended that children have their teeth checked by an orthodontist around the age of eight. Your child is not going to be fitted for braces at that time, but we can detect problems at this age and when you get ahead of those problems, it can have a long lasting impact.
Dr Hall can identify any potential problems and, if necessary, discuss the appropriate time for treatment to begin. Often, our recommendation is to wait and see while the face and jaws continue to grow, but 25% of children do require early intervention in order to correct functional bite problems.
We know that many orthodontic problems are better if treated earlier in childhood by utilizing the growth that takes place in younger children. Although Dr Hall may not begin treatment at the young age of eight, he may elect to monitor your child’s dental development. Early detection greatly reduces the need for removal of permanent teeth and can lead to simple, more effective treatment and greater peace of mind.
